The use of SVHS
and VHS video recorders has been the de-facto standard within the Survey industry.
Often hundreds of tapes are used in a single survey job; from these, reports
and archives are created. More recently, the availability of digital video
technology has emerged as a potential alternative in this field.
The DVR is a
new integrated digital video recorder/player, video storage server and database
product designed for the Survey Industry.
The DVR is contained
in a single 8U high 19" rack case, designed to replace the normal SVHS analogue
recorders used in a typical ROV spread. In addition to replacing analogue
tape systems it provides all the advantages of digital recording and media
storage.
Coupled with
NETmc's mediaNET
management and control software, the DVR compresses and archives video data
in real time. Random access to the video data is made possible by the comprehensive
database structure, using all types of survey data as search keys and indexing
values.
An essential
element in the transition to digital media is the use of industry standard
video compression formats. Most new office PCs come equipped with either software
or hardware MPEG decoders; DVR is designed to allow video to be replayed on
these machines without the need to purchase additional, proprietary software.
Features
- Records up
to 3 simultaneous, independant, video & audio channels in MPEG-1 or
2
- Built in datbase
creation & management enables video data to be synchronised & stored
with survey telemetry data, i.e. GPS, time, date etc.
- Local or network
control of the system to allow entry of additional idendification data,
out with telemetry variables. (Option: integrate DVR with NAV computer to
achieve this dynamically)
- Modular construction
means DVR can be configured & scaled to suit user requirements
- Each module
is equipped with LCD that embodies a user friendly, menu driven, setup entry
and system status display
